Century Tool and Gage, a composites tooling specialist, and CTG Bel-Kur, a supplier of secondary tooling solutions for composite molding, have released a new brochure that promotes the joint companies as a single source for mold and tooling needs, while outlining each company’s capability.
The brochure consists of 8-pages inclusive of photos from Century and CTG Bel-Kur’s shop floor in addition to photos that illustrate the industries served. To receive a copy of the brochure, call 810-629-0784.
Century Tool and Gage, a composites tooling specialist, and CTG Bel-Kur, a supplier of secondary tooling solutions for composite molding, have launched a new website that serves as an information hub for both companies.
The site is configured so users can immediately access Century or CTG Bel-Kur information while other areas on the site illustrate the synergies created by the combination of the two companies. As a one-stop composites tooling resource, there is a section that addresses lightweighting as an industry trend as well as illustrating many of the high-level customers both companies have provided work for. There is also information on the history of the company and its processes. A separate section provides information on the community involvement of both companies.
CTG Bel-Kur has added to its capability with a new in-house paint booth as well as a new 5-axis vertical machining center
CTG Bel-Kur, a supplier of secondary tooling solutions for composite molding, has enhanced its capability with the purchase of a new Haas UMC 750 5-axis vertical machining center as well as the establishment of an in-house 500 sq. ft. paint booth within its existing 47,000 sq. ft. facility. The new machine expands company’s machining department, and helps to improve productivity when producing multi-sided and complex parts. Where a multi-sided or complex part would typically require multiple setups and operator handling, the new machine will produce the finished part in a single setup with increased accuracy.
The new open-faced paint booth brings this service in-house, enabling the company to better control its operations and serve customers in a more streamlined manner.
CTG Bel-Kur provides design, engineering, fabrication, build, commissioning and ongoing service for a variety of secondary materials processing equipment, specializing in post-mold solutions including cooling jigs and fixtures, bond and drill fixtures, trim dies and automated assembly.
Compression molding is a closed-mold composite manufacturing process that uses metal molds with the application of external pressure. The mold — which is a two-part set — is mounted in a hydraulic or mechanical molding press where the molds are heated up to 300 F. An engineered composite layup is placed in the open mold cavity, the mold is closed, and pressure is then applied. The pressure remains on the mold throughout the cure cycle, which typically takes place in an oven. Depending on thickness, size, and shape of the part, curing cycles range from less than a minute to about five minutes. The mold is opened and the finished part is removed.
The advantages of compression molding include fast molding cycles and high part uniformity. Also, it offers the ability to mold large components with fairly intricate features – such as holes, inserts or ribs — to be molded in instead of being machined post-mold. Additionally, compression molding achieves very good surface finish, so less part finishing required, contributing to lower costs.
Obviously, the quality of the mold itself plays a crucial role in enabling manufacturers to consistently produce quality parts. Molds can be machined from forged steel, cast iron, and cast aluminum. Along with years of dedicated experience, Century has an established process that has proven to consistently meet delivery deadlines as well as stringent quality requirements.
We have introduced new logos for Century and CTG Bel-kur. Each has an independent logo as well as one where they're combined as shown above.
When you see us together you'll notice that there is a little blue dot that connects us. This blue dot represents our customers — you. To us, you are the center of our universe, the reason we exist. We greatly appreciate you, and one of the best ways we can show how much we care is by including you within our identity.
